Here's my short Christmas story. I'm also working on a New Year's story. Hopefully it'll be done next week. Merry Christmas everyone!!!!
A Christmas Change
By: Usagi Carter
Last Revised: 1999
"Merry Christmas Mamoru." Motoki said to his friend.
"Motoki, I'm not in the mood." Mamoru said as he claimed his usual spot at the counter.
"Mamoru, when are you ever in the mood for Christmas?" Motoki asked.
"Good point. So, no Odango today?"
"Iie. She got detention from what Amy chan told me a few minutes ago. Why?"
"Just wondering." Mamoru said as his spirits dwindled even more. His day just hadn't gone well. First, he woke up late, which just happens to be very unusual for him. Second, he missed Usagi this morning so no collision with his favorite person. Third, he'd lost his homework and missed the final lab for chemistry. And now this.
"Miss her that much, do you." Motoki grinned.
"I didn't get to see her this morning. Motoki, how do I tell her how I feel?" Mamoru asked.
"Just go up to her and say, 'Usagi chan, I like you. Would you go out with me?' It's really simple."
"No, it's not. I've never felt this way about any girl before. There's just something very different about her."
"Motoki!" Usagi screeched as she bounded into the arcade.
"Here's your chance. Kon wa Usagi chan. We were just talking about you."
"Oh. Konnichiwa Mamoru san." Usagi said as she sat down.
"Kon wa Usagi chan." Mamoru spoke. Usagi looked at Mamoru in shock and, what was that, hope maybe? There was one thing no one but Motoki and Raye knew; Usagi had a major crush on her long time enemy, Mamoru.
"How are you Mamoru?" Usagi asked.
"Pretty good. So Odango, how was school? Did you fail any tests?"
"Mamoru, why do you insist on calling me by that?" Usagi asked angrily.
"Because it suits you. Besides, it makes it easier on me so that I don't call you Usako." Mamoru said as all their eyes opened in shock. "Gomen. I didn't mean for that to slip. I'll be going now." Mamoru said as he got up and left.
"Mamo chan." Usagi whispered.
"Usagi, he wants you, but he's very afraid that you won't accept him."
"Motoki, what's his address?" she asked. Motoki smiled, grabbed a napkin and a pen, and wrote down his best friend's address for the young lady in front of him. He handed it to her and watched as she left the arcade.
1/2 hour later
I raced into the tall building that had the address Motoki had given me on it. I took the elevator to the tenth floor and got off. Then, I wandered the halls looking for apartment 8A. I found it at the end of the left hallway. I shyly knocked on the door. "Coming!" a voice said from inside. "May I..." Mamoru said as he opened the door.
"Konnichiwa Mamrou." I said sweetly. Only then did I notice he was wearing only a towel and was very wet.
"Um, Kon wa Usagi." He said nervously.
"Did I catch you at a bad time?" I asked gesturing to his state of dress.
"Umm, iie, not really. Come in. I was just going to get dressed. You can have a seat and I'll be right with you." He said before he hurried into his bedroom and changed. When he came out, he was wearing pajama pants and that's it. "What brings you here Usagi?"
"Well, I wanted to talk about what happened at the arcade." I said as I watched him tense.
"The arcade?" he asked.
"Yes. Why did you call me Usako?" I asked.
"Because is not an answer."
"I love you." He said quietly.
"Well, why didn't you tell me?" I asked in a giggle. His head shot up and I saw surprise written across his features.
"Because you were afraid to? Mamo chan, I love you too." I said as I launched myself into his arms.
"I love you Usako. Merry Christmas."
"I love you too Mamo chan. Merry Christmas."
The End!!! Sorry it's short, but I've been extremely busy and I haven't been feeling good.
